DEEP SPACE DISASTERS (Nov. 11)
In space travel there is a saying that the first 50 miles and the last 50 miles are the most dangerous. SPACE DISASTERS will explore the controlled explosion of launch, the fiery crucible of reentry and everything in between. See how a single spark inside a spacecraft or a micrometeoroid less than an inch wide hitting a space station can turn a routine mission into a lethal nightmare. As the missions become longer, venturing to Mars and beyond, the potential disasters will only become bigger. And what would happen if a spacecraft ventured too close to a black hole or was hit by a gamma ray burst? SEASON PREMIERE!
If you never seen the History Channel’s ‘The Universe’ do try and catch it. This one of the very few shows I make sure I recorded if I’m not going to get to see it for whatever reason.
Check this out! You will see a banner in the sidebar, click it and enter for a chance to win a trip to the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex and all the details for getting entered – it sounds pretty engaging and a lot of fun.
And that’s not all! Read on!!
Tom’s Astronomy Blog and the History Channel have partnered up for a special drawing for some pretty cool prizes (see below) that will go to a lucky one of the readers of my ramblings! Maybe that could be YOU!
This is what the winner will get:
Here are the details about the History Channel/Tom’s Astronomy Blog drawing and keep in mind this is separate from The Universe: Hunt Through History Sweepstakes : You need to enter that one separately to win the trip!
To enter the Tom’s Astronomy Blog part of the History Channel drawing all you need to do is post a comment on this post and mention your favorite planet (besides Earth), dwarf planet, or moon is. You must enter at least 10 minutes prior to the drawing which will occur on November 29, 2008 at 8 am EST. That’s it!
I will randomly pick a winner from the comments:
By entering you agree in the event you win you will provide me your name and address. This information along with your email address will be provided to the History Channel in order to ship your prize.
In no other circumstance will any personal information be provided to anybody for any purpose.
All decisions made by Tom are final. Tom and members of Toms household are not eligible (Waaaaaah these prizes are too cool!!).
Your odds of winning are dependent on the number of comments received. GOOD LUCK!!
